This was a most interesting excercise for me. My PowerPoint, and subsequent upload via Scribd, was completed using dial-up speed internet, having exceeded my monthly allowance with 15 days to go. This has provided me with an interesting insight into the expectations we have as teacher's that our students will have some form of access to the Web. I have been reminded of how frustrating it is to try and research information, use apps or other web based software, or even access emails with restricted download speeds. To help reduce this frustration for my students who may have limited download allowances, or no internet access at home, I believe I need to further investigate options such as the use of zipped files, or making sure applications and software were readily available for student use during class and in the lunch hour / homework sessions. Lessons this week = Group 3 & 4 Tools; Patience; Humility.
